2013

New forms of communicating with readers

In 2013, the library launched a new tradition – the presentation of ancient and modern books from the fund of a special online album, which was popularized on the Facebook page of the Diplomatic Institute.

Our followers on the social network were invited to share read titles from the fund, their impressions and recommendations. The initiative created a bridge between the library’s rich historical heritage and the modern reading community.

2015

Participation in the National Reading Marathon

In 2015, the library joined the “Reading Marathon” initiative of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association. On April 24, a literary reading was organized under the title “Share your favorite book”, which encouraged the exchange of ideas and recommendations among employees and guests of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

2016

"Mobile Library in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs"

In 2016, on the occasion of the first day of school – September 15, the library implemented the “Wheel Library” initiative. Representatives of the institute visited the offices in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with selected new titles from the fund. Employees could choose a book directly at their workplace – a modern, accessible and engaging way to promote reading and promote the newly purchased Bulgarian and foreign literature.

2019

Exhibition Project "BookShelves"

In 2019, the library presented the project “Bookshelves – Precious books from the Diplomatic Library”, dedicated to rare and valuable titles from the period 1879-1944. Its first edition under the title “Captivated by the Balkans” was focused on the travelogues of seven British female travelers and was held on the occasion of the library’s 140th anniversary. The project showed the richness of the collection and its historical value.

2021

Video presentation of the diplomatic library

In 2021, a special video dedicated to the library was produced and promoted – “Treasury for those tempted by diplomacy”. It presents its history and functions, as well as reveals its importance in the training of future diplomats and what makes it unique on a national scale.

2023

World Book Day initiative

On the occasion of World Book Day – April 23, the library organizes a one-day initiative to promote its fund in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Selected titles – memoirs, fiction authors, diplomats, journalists and historians, as well as specialized publications – were made available for borrowing in order to promote reading and reading exchange.

2024

Hall "20 Years Diplomatic Institute" for rare and valuable publications

In 2024, a specially equipped hall for rare and valuable publications “20 years of the Diplomatic Institute” was opened.

The project for its construction starts in 2022 and aims to create a protocol and representative space in which unique publications from the library fund will be exhibited.
