1. General information

The Diplomatic Institute (DI) was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria as the first school for diplomatic training in the country. Within its activity, including training, public events, publishing and library maintenance, DI processes personal data of natural persons in accordance with the applicable legislation.

2. Data we collect and process

Depending on how you interact with us, we process different categories of data:

A. When applying for an internship for the purposes of the DI internship program, which is open year-round, we collect the following documents containing personal data:
• Names and contact details (phone, email);
• CV (CV);
• cover letter;
• Assurance from a higher education institution (high school) for student status;
• Data on education and success from studying.

B. When participating in trainings and courses for the organization of specialized trainings for the diplomatic service, state administration and foreign diplomats (e.g. Winter School of Diplomacy, courses for intern-attaches), we process data on official and professional identity of the participants and lecturers.

C. When visiting the library, the DI library fund is accessible to external readers. A pre-order containing names and contact details is required to provide access and registration.

D. When participating in events and public activity during public lectures, conferences, discussions and official meetings organized by the DI, photo and video recording is carried out in order to promote the activity and archiving the events (e.g. from meetings with ambassadors and discussions).

3. Purposes of processing

We use your personal data for the following purposes:
• Training activity: conducting courses to improve qualifications and professional development.
• Selection of personnel: administration of the application process and selection of interns.
• Communication and information: Sending invitations to events and distribution of publications such as Diplomacy magazine and collections.
• Library service: Providing access to specialized literature and reading room.
• Project activity: implementation of projects with national and international partners.

4. Sharing data

The Diplomatic Institute works in cooperation with a wide network of partners. In certain cases related to joint events or trainings, data may be exchanged with:
• Ministry of Foreign Affairs (as a structure under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
• Academic partners (e.g. SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Military Academy “G. S. Rakovski”).
• International partners (e.g. Hans Seidel Foundation, European Security and Defense College).

5. Your Rights

You have the right to access your data, correction, deletion or objection to their processing, as well as the right to be informed if filming is taking place during public events.
