The Diplomatic Institute is the first school of its kind for the professional training of diplomats and civil servants in the field of foreign policy in Bulgaria.

Regional Leadership in Diplomatic Education

The Diplomatic Institute has built itself as a leading school for diplomatic training in the region, which role is also strengthened by the trainings organized by the Institute in an international format.

They are aimed at representatives of the foreign diplomatic service and state administration, with a focus on priority regions for the foreign policy of our country.

Among them are traditional seminars that strengthen international cooperation and the exchange of experience between diplomats from the region.

Winter School of Diplomacy
A one-week seminar initiated in 2006 and organized annually in cooperation with the Hans Seidel Foundation. The seminar gathers representatives of the youngest generation of diplomats from the countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Black Sea region and the EU member states, providing an opportunity to discuss issues of regional and international security and geopolitical dynamics. Institutionalization of the Winter School of Diplomacy as an annual forum for dialogue between young diplomats, from strategically important regions for the EU, is an essential component of the Diplomatic Institute’s training policy.

Introductory seminar for newly appointed employees of the diplomatic corps in our country
With its already five editions, the seminar is established as a successful platform for standardizing and systematizing information and the environment, through which, within the framework of four one-day modules, the newly arrived diplomats can get to know Bulgarian history, foreign policy and economic, social and cultural specifics of the country us.
