15.09.2015 – Energy security and infrastructure in Southeast Europe

In the first program of the year, the director of the institute, Tanya Mihailova, outlined the initiatives on which the institute will work until the end of the year, as well as in the coming years. She presented the goals of the launched international conference “Energy Infrastructure and Energy Security in Southeast Europe”, with the participation of the Vice President of the European Commission Maros Šefčovič and the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov.

The conference is co-organized with the Institute for Energy Management, whose director Slavcho Neikov emphasized in the program that security in energy is extremely important not only for Bulgaria, but also for the world, and that such a conference is the first of its kind. After the conference, there is also the sixth international seminar on energy diplomacy, which initially started as an interdepartmental one. For years, the institute has also been providing expertise to our neighboring countries that are candidates for members of the European Union.

DI is one of the two institutions conducting pilot training of the Bulgarian state administration for the upcoming rotating presidency of Bulgaria of the Council of the EU in 2018.

Within the framework of the publishing activity of DI, the premiere of Prof. Jasmin Popova’s book “The European Union after the Lisbon Treaty” is coming, as well as the publication of the next issue of the magazine “Diplotation”.
