For another consecutive year, the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute participated in the final selection round for the new Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the United Nations. Veselina Denchovska and Nia Kozleva were selected as Youth Delegates for the 2026–2027 mandate.

As is traditionally the case, the final selection round and the official ceremony were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hristo Polendakov announced the newly selected delegates and read a congratulatory address on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Velislava Petrova-Chamova. Emily Karakoleva, Youth Delegate of the European Union to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, also addressed the audience.

The Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute was represented on the selection panel by Mr. Nikola Peykov, Junior Expert at the Public Affairs and Cooperation Department.

The Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the United Nations Programme is an established mechanism for promoting youth participation in foreign policy and international relations. Through the programme, Bulgaria ranks among the countries that actively engage young people in decision-making processes at both the national and international levels.

The Bulgarian Youth Delegates participate in Bulgaria’s official delegation to the United Nations General Assembly and to the Commission for Social Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), contributing to the representation of the views and interests of young people within the work of the United Nations.
