The Library of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute receives a donation of books on Japan

The Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute was pleased to receive a donation of 182 English-language books dedicated to Japan from the Nippon Foundation, during a meeting with Mr. Kento Muraki, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Japan in Sofia.

The donation was made as part of the international Read Japan Project 2024, following the successful submission of a project proposal by the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute in 2024. The project proposal was prepared by Mihaela Ilieva, Chief Expert at the Public Affairs and Cooperation Department, with the support of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The Read Japan Project provides universities, libraries and research institutions around the world with a rich selection of contemporary publications presenting Japan’s history, culture, society, politics, economy and international relations.

The Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute expresses its gratitude to the Embassy of Japan in Sofia for its support in the application process and in facilitating the donation. We believe that this collection dedicated to Japan represents another step towards expanding our international cooperation and promoting knowledge about Japan among employees of the Bulgarian diplomatic service, as well as among course participants, interns and all visitors to our library with an interest in Japan.

The donated books have already been arranged in a dedicated Japan section in the newly established Reading Hall of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute’s Library.
