In 2019, the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute actively participated in commemorating the 140th anniversary of the establishment of the modern Bulgarian diplomatic service, the 140th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and a number of countries in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, as well as several other significant milestone anniversaries in Bulgaria’s bilateral diplomatic relations.

To mark this anniversary year and bring it to a wider audience, we produced a series of video conversations with the ambassadors of 12 countries with which Bulgaria celebrated 140 years of diplomatic relations or another significant milestone anniversary in 2019. During these conversations, the ambassadors shared interesting insights into the history of bilateral relations, their vision for their future development, and their personal experiences “behind the scenes” of the diplomatic profession.

The conversations were conducted by young diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who are alumni of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute. Each conversation was conducted in the respective ambassador’s native language and subsequently subtitled in Bulgarian and English.

To also present the Bulgarian perspective on these bilateral relations, we produced a joint video featuring a series of short, rapid-fire conversations with the Bulgarian ambassadors accredited to these 12 countries. Enjoy watching!
