For the purposes of its overall activity, the Diplomatic Institute administers a publicly available library, where general education literature is collected, processed and stored, as well as specialized publications in the field of international relations and diplomacy, European integration, international security and geopolitics, international organizations, Law, history, sociology, political science, economics, culture, etc.
The library was created when the DI was founded. In 2010, the library array of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was entrusted to the DI and, together with that of the institute, were united in a common library fund.
Thus, today the library offers over 60,000 titles mainly in Bulgarian, English, French, German and Russian, some of which date back to the beginning of the 18th century. We are constantly updating the library fund with new current books and periodicals.
In 2024, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Diplomatic Institute opened a special new hall in its library, which exhibits rare and valuable Bulgarian and foreign publications.
Our library is also a center for expert meetings, presentations of new books, as well as initiatives on special occasions such as “Wheel Library” and “Pop-Up Library”.
In line with its overall cooperation policy, DI maintains an active library-information exchange with related Bulgarian and foreign institutions, including national, regional and university libraries, information-research and librarian centers.
